Biography

Erik Markus Schuetz was born in Germany, grew up involved in lots of activities and sport, learning to ski and ride motorcycles at a young age and his Passion has been Movies ever since. Like many martial artists, he was inspired by the late, great Bruce Lee.

His own studies into martial arts were not only augmented on the streets with first hand experience, but by 11 Erik was formerly trained in gymnastics and karate. By 16 he was lifting weights and did boxing, and with a impressive physique, started working as a bouncer with age 18. This gave his training another dimension in reality and hard, first hand experience.

It was from these experiences that Erik started searching for more effective ways and discovered what he perceived as the best, certainly one of the world´s toughest martial arts, Muay Tha (Thai Boxing). Erik fought as a professional in Thailand, Spain and the United States. Unlike most people, Erik´s commitment and 100% focusing on what he does paid off.

His biggest Love Though is The Big Screen. His Passion, Filmmaking, which he found and explored as Teenager with a Super 8 Handheld Camera. He filmed Action Scenes with Friends in the Backyard and directed Mini Films in Germany.

Regarding Experience for Film, TV and Stage. Erik has directed his first Stage Play in Germany by the Age of 13, the Play of „The Barber of Seville“.

Erik has got many years Experience in Movie Making, whilst working with Greats like Oliver Stone, Jackie Chan, Ching Siu Tung, Gordon Liu. In the Year 2000 he Co-Directed 4 Features in Japan for IDEA POCKET FILMS, and has Line-Produced a U.S. Action Movie called “Blood Ties“ which won serval Awards such as Best Action Film OF the Year in Los Angeles 2008.

Working on Thai and International Productions since 2001.

Erik was Part of World Wide Film Successes like ONG BAK, The Protector (Tom Yum Goong), Beautiful Boxer and many more. Lead Parts in the international Action Hit „The Sanctuary“, with Russell Wong brought the Attention of Investors.

A Main Part for the Film „Kill Em All“ with Gordon Liu (Kill Bill) followed.

In September 2011, Erik directed the Short Film „REACTIONS“, with Hollywood Actor Johnny Messner (Tears of the Sun, Running Scared) as Lead. The Film won at the 3. International Film Festivals.

Erik is a upcoming, talented and visionary Director who is not afraid to take on the Big Leagues in the Film Industry.

Erik Markus Schuetz (* 25. Januar 1973 in Bayern) ist ein deutscher Schauspieler, Regisseur, Stuntman, Stunt-action Koordinator und Kampfsportler.[1]

Er ist bekannt für seine Rollen als "Gary" in The Sanctuary, "Schmidt" in Kill ´Em All und "Pearl Harbour" in Ong-Bak. Er spielte ebenfalls unter anderem in Jackie Chans Das Medaillon, Steven Seagals Belly of the Beast, The 5th Commandment – Du sollst nicht töten, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.[2]

Schuetz lernte bereits in jungen Jahren das Ski- und Motorradfahren. Inspiriert von Bruce Lee trainierte er im Alter von elf Jahren Gymnastik und Karate. Mit 16 Jahren begann er mit Krafttraining und Boxen; mit 18 Jahren arbeitete er als Türsteher. Später entdeckte er die Kampfsportart Muay Thai und kämpfte als Profi in Thailand, Spanien und den Vereinigten Staaten.[2][1]

Seine Leidenschaft für das Filmemachen wurde im Teenageralter durch eine Super 8-Handkamera geweckt. Er filmte Action-Szenen mit Freunden im Garten und führte Regie bei Kurzfilmen in Deutschland. Seine erste Schauspielerfahrung hatte Erik im Alter von 13 Jahren, als er eine Rolle in der Oper "Der Barbier von Sevilla" übernahm. Seine Erfahrungen im Filmgeschäft sammelte Erik durch Zusammenarbeiten mit Oliver Stone, Jackie Chan, Ching Siu-Tung, Gordon Liu, Samuel L. Jackson und Ray Stevenson. Er arbeitete als Line Producer für den US-Actionfilm Blood Ties, welcher unter anderem den Preis als “Bester Actionfilm des Jahres” beim Action On Film Festival in Los Angeles 2008 gewann. Schuetz war ein Teil von Filmerfolgen wie Ong-Bak (2003), The Protector (2005) und Beautiful Boxer (2004). Führende Rollen in internationalen Actionfilmen wie The Sanctuary (2009) mit Russell Wong und Kill ´Em All (2012) mit Gordon Liu folgten. Darüber hinaus war er in über 100 TV-Werbespots und verschiedenen TV-Serien in Thailand, z. B. Koo Kam und Narok tua Soodthay zu sehen. Als Stunt-Koordinator und Stunt-Fahrer war er mit Bodyslam auf Tournee.[2][1]

Im September 2012 führte er bei seinem ersten Kurzfilm REACTIONS mit Hollywood-Schauspieler Johnny Messner in der Hauptrolle zum ersten Mal Regie. Der Film gewann den Special Honors Award beim 3. Internationalen Film Und Game Festival in München. In der Zwischenzeit drehte er mehrere Film-Trailer und die Kung-Fu-Parodie Dön Fu. Zuletzt drehte Schuetz im Jahr 2013 die Kurzfilme Das Dritte Ich und TEMPS.[2]

2014 war er in Jalmari Helanders Film Big Game – Die Jagd beginnt (2014) neben Samuel L. Jackson und Ray Stevenson zu sehen.
